Optical fiber has already reached 2 locations in Monforte, dstelecom announced. In a statement, the wholesale telecommunications operator responsible for the construction, management and maintenance of the infrastructure added that this data highway covers Monforte and Vaiamonte, with a total of more than 1,400 homes.

According to the company, the existence of a fiber network in the municipality is essential, as it contributes not only to the reduction of regional asymmetries, but also to the settlement of the population and the creation of new opportunities in the region.

Ricardo Salgado, the company's CEO, truly believes that this data highway will do more for communities than asphalt highways promised. Furthermore, he highlights the neutrality of the infrastructure which, at the moment, has the presence of all telecommunications operators operating in Portugal.

“Families and companies based in Monforte will be able to choose any service, without any limitation or discrimination, from a wide range of retail operators operating in Portugal”, he comments.
