optical fiber reaches Lomba in Gondomar with multi-operator coverage

More than 800 homes in Lomba, Gondomar, will have access to the multi-operator fibre optic network by the beginning of July. And it's all thanks to dstelecom.

The town of Lomba, in the municipality of Gondomar, will have multi-operator fibre optic coverage from July, in an initiative to extend the broadband network in the Porto district. The expansion, promoted by dstelecom, will allow more than 800 homes to have access to high-speed digital services for the first time, contributing to greater technological inclusion in the region.

This operation is part of the company's efforts to extend its network, which began in 2022, the year it began operating in Gondomar. With this new phase, the total number of homes covered in the municipality is close to 6,400, consolidating the infrastructure's presence in the region and expanding the connectivity options available to the population.

The arrival of fibre optics in Lomba is particularly important, as it is an area that until now has remained beyond the reach of this technology. The inclusion of this locality in a network expansion project therefore represents a significant step forward in combating digital inequalities and strengthening territorial cohesion.

The infrastructure provided will follow the open network model, allowing residents to freely choose the telecoms operator they wish to contract the service with, in a scenario of competition between various entities in the sector. This approach aims to ensure greater freedom of choice, better contractual conditions and more competitive prices for consumers.
