Alijó: dstelecom’s fiber optic network expansion now covers 98% of the municipality

The projects are scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of this year and will connect approximately 600 new homes, bringing municipal coverage to approximately 98%.

The Municipality of Alijó is monitoring the digital infrastructure expansion project currently underway in the municipality. The project aims to ensure widespread access to the fiber optic network throughout the municipal territory.

The completion of the operational work is scheduled for the last quarter of this year. With this expansion, approximately 600 new homes will gain access to latest-generation broadband connectivity, raising the network coverage rate to approximately 98% of the municipality’s area.

Field operations are specifically focused on the localities of Cotas, Vale de Mendiz, Casal de Loivos, Vilarinho de Cotas, and Póvoa. The expansion aims to reduce local disparities and promote territorial cohesion through equitable access to information and communication technologies.

According to the municipality, the investment represents a step toward modernizing local telecommunications infrastructure, ensuring that families, businesses, and institutions have a faster, more stable, and more efficient connection. The municipality emphasizes that strengthening the network improves competitiveness and prepares the municipality for the demands of the digital transition.
