dstelecom will reinforce the capacity of its fiber optic network in Cabeceiras de Basto by September. The municipality will have this infrastructure for the first time in the localities of Gondiães and Vilar de Cunhas. Infrastructure reinforcement will also occur in Cabeceiras de Basto and Cavez.
With this initiative, approximately one thousand new homes will be covered by the network, guaranteeing the municipality a fast and stable internet connection, comparable to that available in large urban centers.
dstelecom will increase its total coverage to more than 10,000 addresses, corresponding to 96% of the territory.
Present in Cabeceiras de Basto since 2015, dstelecom continues to address one of the biggest challenges in the interior: the digital divide that still deprives thousands of families and businesses of the same opportunities available in large urban centers. This new expansion reinforces its commitment to digital inclusion and the sustainable development of the territory.

Throughout this process, we have sought to identify the areas where coverage is most needed, monitor the expansion work, and raise awareness among the various stakeholders about the importance of ensuring better connectivity conditions.”
The mayor also highlights the impact of this infrastructure on the Business Reception Parks. “Today, no company can grow, innovate, communicate effectively, access new markets, or attract investment without a robust and reliable digital network. Fiber optics is therefore essential to strengthen the competitiveness of our companies, support local businesses, and make Cabeceiras de Basto more attractive for new investments,” he explains.
