The project will bring fiber optics to 800 new homes, raising the number of families with access to state-of-the-art broadband in the municipality to 5,700.
dstelecom will expand its multi-operator fiber-optic network in the civil parishes of Budens, Vila do Bispo, and Raposeira—located in the municipality of Vila do Bispo, Faro district—extending coverage to 90% of the municipal territory by the third quarter of 2026, the company announced today.
The project will bring fiber-optic connectivity to 800 additional homes, bringing the total number of households with access to next-generation broadband in the municipality to 5,700.
According to the operator, the network expansion will take place during the third quarter of this year, ensuring “a fast and stable internet connection, comparable to that available in major urban centers.”
In a statement, the company emphasizes that connectivity plays a strategic role in a region “recognized for its natural heritage and an economy strongly driven by tourism,” thereby supporting the operations of tourist accommodations, restaurants, retail businesses, and other local enterprises.
“We remain committed to ensuring that no area is left behind regarding access to the digital economy. This expansion in Vila do Bispo marks another step in our commitment to territorial cohesion and to building a more connected country,” says DSTelecom CEO Ricardo Salgado, as quoted in the statement.
As the network is neutral and open-access, residents in the covered areas will be able to choose from the major telecommunications operators active in Portugal.
