dstelecom has just announced that, by the end of June 2026, it will be expanding its fiber optic network in Ribeira de Pena, in a project that will enable around 2,500 new homes to gain access to the latest broadband services.
The municipality will now have this infrastructure, for the first time, in the localities of Alvadia and Canedo. There will also be an upgrade to the infrastructure in Santa Marinha, Cerva, Limões, Ribeira de Pena (Salvador) and Santo Aleixo de Além-Tâmega, ensuring that the entire municipality now has access to the fiber optic network.
All told, around 5,900 households will now be covered by dstelecom’s fibre network, representing 98% coverage across the municipality. With this expansion, Ribeira de Pena is approaching the connectivity levels of major urban areas, which will ensure its residents have access to fast, reliable internet and a wider range of services.
Having been present in the municipality since 2014, this expansion thus marks a decisive step towards the municipality’s full digital inclusion.
“Achieving full coverage in Ribeira de Pena shows what is possible when there is a strong commitment to territorial cohesion,” emphasises Ricardo Salgado, CEO of dstelecom. “The entire municipality is now served by a network that is synonymous with new opportunities for local families, businesses and institutions.”

The dstelecom network is neutral and open, meaning residents can choose from the main operators operating in Portugal, ensuring competitive access to high-quality services.
Residents can now check coverage availability at dstelecom.pt/rede-e-cobertura/verificar-cobertura/ or by contacting euquerofibra@dstelecom.pt / 800 910 660, providing their full address and, ideally, GPS coordinates.
