The expansion of dstelecom’s fiber optic network in Mondim de Basto will cover a further 650 homes in the parish of Atei, bringing the total coverage to around 4,200 households.
dstelecom’s fiber optic network is being expanded in the municipality of Mondim de Basto, with work scheduled to continue until the end of June in the parish of Atei. The expansion forms part of the company’s multi-operator infrastructure and is expected to increase the coverage area within the municipality to around 80% of the territory.
The network upgrade will enable the service to be extended to approximately 650 new homes. With this expansion, the total number of households covered by the fiber optic infrastructure in the municipality will rise to around 4,200. The connection provided is based on fiber optic technology, with performance characteristics in line with those found in denser urban areas.
dstelecom has been present in Mondim de Basto since 2015, and has since continued the gradual expansion of its network in the area. The project forms part of the strategy to develop telecommunications infrastructure in inland regions, where coverage of high-speed services has historically been more limited compared to major urban centres.

The infrastructure put in place follows a multi-operator model, allowing different telecommunications operators to use the same network. This model enables end users to choose between various service providers available on the domestic market, depending on the terms and offers presented by each.
