Fiber expansion in Odeleite creates new opportunities in the Algarve countryside, with over 730 homes connected to broadband
dstelecom will expand its fiber-optic network in the municipality of Castro Marim, with the technology set to reach the parish of Odeleite by the end of June. The project will cover approximately 65% of the area and bring next-generation broadband to over 730 homes.
With this expansion, the number of households covered by dstelecom’s network in the municipality is expected to rise to around 7,000, corresponding to approximately 80% of the municipal territory.

Known for its reservoir and the cork oak forests stretching between the mountains and the Guadiana River, Odeleite will now have improved digital connectivity, bringing the services available in the interior closer to the access levels found on the coast.
The project aims to address gaps in internet access and benefit residents, businesses, new rural residents, and remote workers, creating new conditions to retain the population and foster local economic development.
Open network aims to combat territorial inequalities
Beyond the impact on families’ lives, dstelecom emphasizes that the arrival of fiber optics in Odeleite could have direct effects on local economic activity, particularly in sectors such as cork, agritourism, local lodging, and small businesses, which will now have access to more robust digital tools.
Ricardo Salgado, CEO of dstelecom, states that “Bringing fiber optics to Odeleite means fulfilling dstelecom’s mission: to reach places no one else can, and to do so with a network open to major telecommunications operators.”
He adds that “By expanding this coverage, we are reinforcing dstelecom’s commitment to reducing regional disparities in access to high-speed services and creating new opportunities for families, businesses, and local institutions.”
dstelecom’s network is neutral and open, allowing consumers to choose the service and telecommunications operator according to their needs, while benefiting from greater competition and more competitive prices.
Residents can check coverage availability on the dstelecom website or request information by email or phone, providing their full address and, whenever possible, GPS coordinates.
Founded in 2008, dstelecom’s mission is to reduce geographical barriers to access digital communications.
The company operates a multi-operator fiber-optic network present in 154 Portuguese municipalities, with coverage reaching nearly one million homes.
